Round-table conference on Kashmir a conspiracy, Shabir Shah

Srinagar, Apr 21 (UNI) Alleging that the 3rd round-table conference on Kashmir, being held on Tuesday in New Delhi, was a conspiracy to keep the Kashmir issue in cold-storage, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chief Shabir Ahmad Shah said only tripartite talks would help in achieving the goal.

Addressing a public meeting at Kupwara today Mr Shah said his DFP has already rejected the invitation for the 3rd round-table conference from the centre.

He said he was not against holding talks on Kashmir issue between the parties but these should be meaningful and result oriented.

Mr Shah said the conference has lost its credibility after a number of parties having no sympathy with the people of Kashmir were invited.

We believe that it was a conspiracy to keep the Kashmir issue in cold storage, he added.

The DFP chief said all bilateral talks on Kashmir since 1947 have failed as there are three parties --India, Pakistan and the people of the Jammu and Kashmir-- involved in it.

Any solution must be acceptable to all the three parties if we have to resolve the issue once and for all, he said adding lasting peace was not possible in the South-Asia without finding a solution to it.

Mr Shah said people of the Jammu and Kashmir will not allow anyone to sell out the sacrifices made by more than five lakh people since 1947.
