Palakkad, Apr 21 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said the proposed Pathrakadavu Hydel Project in Silent Valley would be implemented only after getting clearance from the forests and environment experts deputed by the Centre.

Speaking at a function declaring Kannadi Gram Panchayat as the first fully electrified Gram Panchayat in the state, he said the project would never disturb the eco-system of Silent Valley.

He clarified that the government was opposed to projects that harmed the environment.

Stating that he had not changed his earlier stand on the project, Mr Achuthanandan said only administrative sanction was given for it.

The Chief Minister said the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government would fulfil the promises given to the people and added electrification of all houses in the state would be completed in five-years.

The total cost of electrification of the Kannadi Gram Panchayat was Rs 20 lakh, out of which the District Panchayat's share was Rs 6.5 lakh.
