Orissa urges Centre to reduce Indian fare

New Delhi, Apr 21 (UNI) Orissa Tourism Minister Debi Prasah Mishra today urged the Central government to extend the special discount fare in Indian, the official domestic airlines, in the Bhubaneswar and New Delhi sector.

Mr Mishra said in the prevailing competitive market, more tourists would visit Orissa if the fare was reduced.

He said the Centre has assured to clear the Mega and Mahanadi Heritage Tourism projects for his state.

After meeting Union Tourism Ministry officials, Mr Mishra said the projects would be cleared by the centre at the earliest.

Mr Mishra said the Indian Association of Tour Operators(IATO) would launch its Orissa chapter at Bhubaneswar before mansoon 2007.

The Minister attended the South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange(SATTE) here as a special invitee.

Mr Mishra visited the stalls put up by Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, Mauritius, Dubai, Spain, Egypt and the UK.

He held discussion with various functionaries of IATO and SATTE on development of tourism in the state.
