More JKCs to open in colleges

Hyderabad, Apr 21 (UNI) More than 450 Jawahar Knowledge Centres (JKCs) will be opened in all the engineering, MBA, MCA and degree colleges through-out Andhra Pradesh, to create employment and to meet the employment potential in the IT sector in the state.

This was decided at a meeting by the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy with the officials of the IT&C and Labour and Employment departments at the Secretariat, an official release said today.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to make use of all the government, university and private engineering and degree colleges to open the JKCs and facilitate training for the final year students. This would include language lab and other necessary training modules needed for the employment in the IT and BPO companies.

NASSCOM predicted five lakh human resource shortage in the next three years and TCS, Infosys, Wipro and Satyam alone had planned to add over five lakh employees in the next three years. Over four lakh students were graduated every year and only ten per cent of them were provided jobs.

There were 283 engineering colleges, 189 MBA, 262 MCA and 357 degree colleges in the state. The necessary JKC centres would be opened in these colleges and in addition to the faculty, assistance of outside trainers also would be deployed to train the students.

The Chief Minister said the JKC concept was working well and should be extended in phases to all the colleges in the state so that the students passing out will also be properly trained for employment.

The Chief Minister said IT&C department in coordination with the Labour and Employment department should train the students from all ITIs in the state in new job potential areas like hospitality, tourism, etc. He wanted the department to come out with a concrete plan in this aspect.
