Mizoram sees record breaking matric results

Aizawl, Apr 21 (UNI) The Mizoram Board of School Education(MBSE) announced a record-breaking high school leaving certificate (HSLC) results here today.

The pass percentage in Mizoram's HLSC 2007 is 51.46per cent, the highest since the MBSE came into existence from the Asom Board of Secondary Education.

The HSLC results this year is remarkable in such a way that it is the highest since the MBSE conducted HSLC exams in Mizoram, MBSE president F Laldawngliana told UNI. He added that the second highest pass percentage, 49 percent was seen in 1992.

Out of the 11401 candidates appeared, 5867 passed, among which 2783 are female. While 491 candidates attained distinction, 1172 passed in first division, 1739 in second division and 2465 in third division.

As usual, St Paul's Higher Secondary in Aizawl dominates the top ten list with 9 of its candidates among the 14 top ten candidates.

The rest five are shared between Gopsel Centenary School, Aizawl; Home Mission School, Aizawl; Mt Carmel School, Aizawl; Sacred Heart School, Aizawl and Sam Da Ben HSS, Lunglei.

School Education minister Dr R Lalthangliana said he was very happy with the results which he attributed to the joint efforts of the department's officers, State Council of Educational Research (SCERT), College of Teachers Education and Mizoram Higher Secondary Teachers' Association.
