Maoists attack Narganjo rly station,services disrupted for 6hrs

Jamui, Apr 21 (UNI) More than 200 armed activists of proscribed CPI(Maoists) attacked Narganjo railway station on the Patna-Howrah route in this district disrupting train services for six hours today.

Gun-weilding Maoists also took station master Suresh Kumar Sinha and the cabin man into their custody and forced them to suspend movement of trains on this route, railway soures said.

The ultras, however, escaped from the spot by raising slogans as a police team arrived.

Movement of trains, which was disrupted from 0100 hours to 0750 hours, was restored after the intervention of security personnel.

Massive combing operation had been launched in the area to nab the rebels, sources added.

Reports from Kolkata, Eastern Railway's Headquarters, stated that the miscreants also took away the key of the panel board of the station, making the station inoperative.

Asansol Divisional Railway Manager Ajay Kumar Rawal had asked the District Magistrate and the Jamui Superintendent of Police to take immediate action.

A tower wagon from Jhajha and one security special train were run in the early hours taking the security forces to check both up and down lines.

The miscreants had also blasted the station building at Narganjo in April 2006.

The railway sources said a total of 11 Up long distance trains had to be detained at different stations from 0100 hrs to 0750 hours.

Among those affected were Poorvanchal Express, Amritsar mail, Vibhuti Express, Lalquila Express, Delhi Janata Express and Himgiri Express.
