Maoists attack Narganjo rly station,services disrupted for 6 hrs
Jamui, Apr 21 (UNI) More than 200 activists of the proscribed CPI (Maoists) attacked the Narganjo railway station on the Patna-Howrah route in this district early today, disrupting train services for six hours.
The maoists forced station master Suresh Kumar Sinha and the cabin man to suspend movement of trains on this route, railway sources said.
The ultras, however, later escaped from the spot before the arrival of a police team.
Movement of trains, which was disrupted from 0100 hrs to 0750 hrs, was restored after the intervention of security personnel.
A massive combing operation has been launched in the area.
Reports from Kolkata, Eastern Railway's Headquarters, said the ultras also took the key of the station's panel board.
Asansol Divisional Railway Manager Ajay Kumar Rawal has asked the District Magistrate and the Jamui Superintendent of Police to take immediate action.
A tower wagon from Jhajha a special train, carrying security personnel, were run in the early hours to check both the up and down lines.
The railway sources said a total of 11 Up long distance trains had to be detained at different stations from 0100 hrs to 0750 hrs.
Among those affected were Poorvanchal Express, the Amritsar mail, the Vibhuti Express, the Lalquila Express, the Delhi Janata Express and the Himgiri Express.
In April, 2006, the ultras had blasted the station building at Narganjo.
