Lokayukta extends time for legislators to file statements

Bangalore, Apr 21 (UNI) Lokayukta has extended the date for MLAs and MLCs to file complete information about their assets and liabilities till April 28.

A statement by Lokayukta said here today that the institution had issued individual notices on April, 11 asking for the filing of the statements under Section 22 of the Karnataka Lokayukta Act 1984.

It is now brought to the notice of Lokayukta that some MLAs and MLCs have either not received the notice or have received belatedly giving them insufficient time to file a complete statement, it said.

Taking into consideration that fact situation and the consquences they may have to face, the Lokayutka is of the opinion that an extended date to file such complete statement should be given, which is done by extending the time till April 28.

All MLAs and MLCs should take notice of the information, which is publicised through newspapers as individual notice of extension of time and any further excuse in regard to non-filing of the statement will not be entertained, the statement said.
