Five children drowned in tank in Karnataka village
Bangalore, Apr 21 (UNI) Five children, including four girls and a boy in the age group of nine to 12 years, were drowned in a tank in Jodugatte village in Magadi taluk of Bangalore rural district today.
Magadi PS Inspector Vivekananda said the incident occured when the boy slipped and fell into the eight-feet deep small pond meant for providing water for cattle. While trying to save him, the other four girls fell into the water and drowned one by one.
The victims were close relatives living in the village.
Yesterday's heavy rain had filled the pond to the brim. The dead were identified as Muniraju (11), Gowramma (14), Muddumadamma alias Manasa (12), Sakamma (10) and Muniraju (11), the official said.
