Fest to popularise tea among youth
Kolkata, Apr 21: It's a fest with a difference to spread the aroma of the world's oldest beverage among the urban youth.
A tea fest was organised here yesterday to bring tea-drinking to the forefront since coffee is gradually replacing it as the preferred beverage among the rich and upper middle class of the metropolis.
Various varieties of tea were on display, such as First Flush, Green Tea, White tea, Bop tea and Oolong tea.
The organisers demonstrated the appropriate way in which different varieties of tea leaves should be boiled and blended to achieve optimum flavour and taste.
They informed the tea-enthusiasts that Assam Tea was famous for its colour and liqour, while Darjeeling Tea for its flavour and that the best way to relish the full aroma of Assam Tea was sans milk and sugar.
They also demonstrated the making of tea-mocktails by blending in fruit juices such as lemon, pineapple, litchi and other fruits which was an instant hit among the young.
Ice tea also proved to be very popular refreshment in the sweltering summer heat.
