Dhaba owner sets ablaze Bihari youth

Rohtak, Apr 21 (UNI) A dhaba owner allegedlly set ablaze a teenager, hailing from Bihar working at his eatery, near Rookhi village in Sonepat district, causing serious burns to the youth, police said today.

The victim, 18-year old Sanjay hailing from Sitamarhi district, was admitted for treatment to the PGIMS here on Thursday with 60 per cent burns. The local police recorded his statement yesterday.

According to reports, a rickshaw puller brought Sanjay, in critical condition due to burn injuries, from the local railway station to the PGIMS on Thursday.

He was admitted to the emergency ward and volunteers of the Manav Sewa Sangh took over the responisbility of looking after him in the absence of his family members.

In his statement recorded by the local police, Sanjay said that he had been working at the 'Dhaba' as the owner had promised to pay him wages whenever he would leave for home.

However, when Sanjay demanded his wages on Thursday, the Dhaba owner allegedly set him ablaze after pouring kerosene on him and put him aboard a train, from which he managed to alight at Rohtak Railway station.

He was taken to PGIMS by a rickshaw puller, he said. The local police have informed the Barouda police in Sonepat district as Rookhi village falls in its jurisdiction.
