Delimitation Commission to visit Nagaland

Kohima, Apr 21: A three-member committee of the Delimitation Commission will visit Nagaland on April 25 to discuss with Nagaland government and other tribal groups on the implementation of Delimitation Act, 2002.

Official sources here today said that the Committee, consisting of Deputy Election Commissioner (Delimitation) Dr. M Sarangi, Secretary Shangara Ram and Legal Advisor S K Mendiratta will discuss with the representatives of political parties, Tribal Hohos and Naga Hohos on the enforcement of the said Act.

The Committee will discuss on two issues namely-- Allocation of Seats for Assembly Constituencies in various districts and Composition of the Assembly Constituencies within the law and guidelines of the Delimitation Commission in such a way so as to maintain the integrity and compositeness of the various tribes.

The meeting will have a cap of five representatives from each Tribal Hohos and Naga Hohos. The Deputy Commissioner of all the eleven districts of Nagaland will also attend the meeting.

The Committee will leave for New Delhi on Friday next, sources added.
