Contract labourer dies after attack by stag

Tirupati, Apr 21(UNI) A contract labourer at Sri Venkateswary Zoological Park (SVZP), succumbed to injuries after being attacked by a stag, at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) here today.

According to the Zoo officials, Cherala Reddy who had been working there for the past 16 years, was severely injured when the stag attacked him with its horns while he was feeding grass to it last evening.

Meanwhile, a group of contract labourers brought the body from the hospital to the zoo where they resorted to dharna in front of the park demanding compensation for the victim's family. Unlike regular employees, the contract workers, have no insurance coverage or other benefits.
