Bangalore, Apr 21 (UNI) City Police have arrested six persons from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh on charges of extortion and possession of arms and ammunition from M E I Lay Out in the city.

Police Commissioner N Achutarao told reporters here today that main accused Anand from Tamil Nadu had demanded his relative and industrialist Kannan Naidu of Rs 50 lakh and he had refused.

Anand had conspired to get the money by force from his relative and indulged in hiring five persons from TN, AP and from the city promising them supari for their cooperation, he said.

The accused also shot at a woman thinking that she was a relative of Mr Naidu in Peenya area in their attempt to get the money yesterday.

Police have recovered three country-made pistols and 18 live cartridges from the accused.

The accused are Anand (TN), Kamal (TN), Ramswamy (Bangalore), A Sudhakar (AP), B Loganth (TN) and Shakti Bangalore).
