BJP-only option left for UP: Advani
Barabanki, Apr 20 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani today said Uttar Pradesh needs a change in governance which can take it on the lines of development and his party is the only ray of hope left.
''For making India as number one on the international level, UP needs to be developed. So, I leave the choice in your hands. There is no doubt about Kalyan Singh's capability as CM. He is best fitted for the CM's post,'' Mr Advani said while addressing an election meeting here.
Upbraiding the opposition over Afzal Guru issue, the BJP leader asserted except BJP, every political party is trying save the terrorist, who is the prime accused in December 13, 2001 attack on parliament. ''Once he, now they are attacking the democracy.'' ''Neither BJP is communal nor anti-Muslim. We do not have any personal grudge against the community. But, we will never support those encouraging terrorism,'' he noted.
''The party has deep respect for the community. Both Muslims and Hindus are pots of the same clay. If the party would have been anti-Muslim, it would have never supported Dr A P J Abdul Kalam for the president's post,'' he underlined.
Terming Uttar Pradesh as a land where criminals rule the roost, the BJP leader alleged ''Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had only given 'goonda raj', poverty and corruption to the people. He has always cheated the common man.'' ''So if you aspire for change, vote BJP and accept Kalyan Singh as the next CM,'' he asserted.
