Bhattacharjee beseeches Opposition not to block development
Kolkata, Apr 21 (UNI) Calling for an all-party unity over the state's development, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today appealed to the Oppositon not to scuttle the process of industrialisation.
''Please do not form a protection of land committee wherever there is a plan to set up an industry. Come to the negotiation table on any specific issue,'' he said while addressing intellecutals at a meeting.
Observing that in other states political parties hardly differed on the question of development, Mr Bhattacharjee regretted that the spirit was missing in West Bengal where the ruling Left Front was facing a stiff resistance in its move to acquire land for setting up new industries.
He said the Government was ready to listen to everybody and it was not impatient in executing the development plan.
This was the first such meeting after the Nandigram incident that the Chief Minister held with a section of writers, artistes, actors and prominent people from various other fields.
