Bandh in Telangana on Babli issue peaceful
Hyderabad, Apr 21 (UNI) The bandh in five Telangana districts, called by the ruling Congress today to protest against the ''disgraceful comments'' made by Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh against the people of Andhra Pradesh on Babli issue recently was peaceful.
Bus services, run by the state-owned Road Transport Corporation (RTC), were suspended as the Congress leaders and activists obstructed train services in some parts of the districts.
Reports from Warangal district said Congress activists stopped the Delhi bound AP Express, at Kazipet railway station for some time. They also obstructed the train services at Hasanparthi railway station in the same district.
People faced problems in reaching their destinations due to suspension of bus services in the five districts.
In Adilabad district, mild tension prevailed in Adilabad town when Congress leaders forced the closure of shops despite opposition by the owners.
In protest against the 'illegal construction of Babli project, the Congress activists burnt an effigy of Maharashtra Chief Minister and organised scooter rallies in several parts of Telangana.
The bandh was observed in Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Nalgonda and Khammam districts.
