Bandh called against 'kidnapping'

Guwahati, Apr 21 (UNI) The Tirap Autonomous District Council Demand Committee(TADCDC) today called a 72-hour Tinsukia district bandh from April 24 in protest against police failure to trace the organisation's 'kidnapped' working president.

TADCDC president Aimoun Sakhap told UNI that the district administration has failed miserably to find clues regarding the kidnapping of the organisation's working president.

TADCDC working president Prasanna Turung and his wife have been missing since the night of April 8.

The TADCDC has claimed that militants have abducted the duo from their residence at Margherita.

A number of social and student organisations have also supported the bandh.

Mr Sakhap said if the administration fails to trace Mr Turung by then, the organizations would step up their agitation.
