TRS bandh call evokes mixed response

Hyderabad, Apr 20 (UNI) The bandh call by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in three districts of Telangana region, against the Centre's order to make the 'skull and bones' picture mandatory on beedi packets, evoked mixed response.

The TRS activists forced closure of shops and educational institutions in the districts of Karim Nagar, Medak and Nizamabad in Andhra Pradesh where the majority of beedi workers were engaged in the profession.

The state owned Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus services were suspended in some areas of the three districts while some government offices did not function after the TRS activists forced them to close down.

In some parts of these districts, the TRS along with the other political parties participated in the bandh.

The bandh was peaceful. No violent incident was reported except in Karim Nagar where the TRS activists stoned a bus.
