State employees to get 6 per cent additional DA

Patna, Apr 20 (UNI) The Bihar government today announced to pay six per cent additional Dearness Allowance (DA) to its employees with retrospective effect from January one, 2007.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who also holds the finance portfolio, said here that with this decision the state employees would now get enhanced DA of 35 per cent instead of 29 per cent.

He said the pension holders would also enjoy the benefits.

Mr Modi said the state exchequer would have to bear the additional burden of Rs 292 crore to pay the enhanced DA.

The related notification would be issued shortly, he added.

Earlier, Mr Modi reviewed the scenario of revenue realisation during the last financial year and expressed dissatisfaction over the poor revenue realisation in some of the districts.

He said revenue realisation in nine districts including Jehanabad, Nawada, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Kishanganj, Munger, Lakhisarai remained below 50 per cent of the fixed target while in other distrists it was recorded in between 51 to 70 percent.

He also directed to take steps for strengthenng the revenue realisation system.
