Six killed, 12 injured in Surat accident

Surat, Apr 20 (UNI) Six persons were killed and 12 injured when a tempo overturned and fell into a farm today.

The incident occurred near Aamod village in Bharuch district in the wee hours when the tempo travelling from baidoli to Amroli overturned after the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a turn and fell into the farm, police sources said.

Of the 20 passengers in the vehicle, six died instantly, 12 were injured and remaining two persons were rescued.

The deceased have been identified as Vinu Bhikha, Jeevraj Govind, Kalubhai, Pravin Patel, Jagadish Shankar and his seven-year-old daughter Sneha.

The injured are recuperating in a nearby Public Health Centre.

The police have registered a case against tempo driver Rakesh Prajapati, sources added.
