Sarpanch murdered

Pune, Apr 20 (UNI) Anant Baburao Padole, a sarpanch of Village Mahalunge-Padwal, near here, was shot dead today by three unidentified persons, police said.

Police said Padole was at a private hotel this afternoon when the three persons fired four rounds, injuring him seriously. Padole was rushed to the Lokmanya Hospital but was declared dead on admission.

The motive behind the crime has still to be acertained and a case has been registered at the Nigdi Police Station.

Search is on for the culprits.
