Railway revenue earnings up 11.40 per cent in April
New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) Propped by continued buoyancy in freight business, the Railways registered an earning of Rs 1,800.30 crore during April 1-10 as compared to Rs 1,616.10 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 11.40 per cent.
The goods earnings went up from Rs 1,073.87 crore to Rs 1,187.08 crore during the period, showing an increase of 10.54 per cent.
The passenger revenue earnings were Rs 541.89 crore compared to Rs 483.99 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 11.96 per cent.
The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 51.57 crore during this period compared to Rs 41.20 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 25.17 per cent.
The sundry earnings rose from Rs 17.04 crore to Rs 19.76 crore, an increase of 15.96 per cent.
The total approximate number of passengers booked during April 1-10 this year were 185.59 million compared to 173.93 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 6.70 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked were 105.93 million and 79.66 million compared to 99.97 million and 73.96 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 5.96 per cent and 7.71 per cent respectively.
