Rahul's second only night halt in Lucknow

Lucknow, Apr 20 (UNI) Amethi MP and Congress' star campaigner Rahul Gandhi today decided to make a night halt in the Uttar Pradesh capital, his second stay here in recent years.

Police sources confirmed Rahul has decided to stay back for the night at a luxury hotel. Tomorrow, he would resume his election tours of the state, addressing at least two public meetings in Barabanki and Lakhimpur Kheri.

A few years ago, Rahul had made a similar stopover in Lucknow while on way to Delhi from Amethi.

Rahul was to hold a three-day roadshow in UP constituencies going to poll on April 23 during phase IV, beginning April 18. But due to certain ''unavoidable reasons'' he could not make it on that day. On Thursday and Friday, he instead used a helicopter to reach 13 constituencies spread in seven districts to hold public meetings.

''He was to leave for Delhi this evening, but two more public meetings were added and he decided to stay back,'' a Congress leader claimed here.

The two constituencis of Ram Nagar in Barabanki and Srinagar in Lakhimpur Kheri were left out due to rescheduling of his tour programme. The two have now been added following pressure from Congress candidates.
