Police asked to submit report on Mallika's dance performance

Vadodara, Apr 20 (UNI) A sessions court here has directed the police to submit a report within three days on the controversial New Year eve performance by actress Mallika Sherawat at a Mumbai hotel last year.

The directions have come following an appeal filed by Baroda Bar Association president Narendra Tiwari.

Mr Tiwari had petitioned a lower court earlier, contending that the cabaret performance by Mallika on December 31, 2006 at Le Marriott hotel in Mumbai was prime facie objectionable under the Immoral Traffic Act and Indecent Representation of Women Act.

Mallika is said to have charged Rs 51 lakh for the dance.

However, the lower court had dismissed the case after the police said the case was untenable as no crime had been committed in the state.

Mr Tiwari, however, challenged the dismissal in the fast track court of judge A F Dave who directed the police to submit a report within three days.
