No insulin through govt outlets: CM
Puducherry, Apr 20 (UNI) Chief Minister N Rangasamy today ruled out the possibility of distributing insulin vials to diabetics in the Union Territory through government outlets.
To a question in the Assembly, Mr Rangasamy clarified the decision was due to the fact the poor could neither store the medicine nor inject themself with the exact dosage and not due to financial constraints.
Mr Rangasamy said insulin injections were being given at primary health centres and government hospitals. However the opinion of the medical team would be sought before taking a final decision.
The Chief Minister also said the administration would take steps to set up a diabetic speciality centre here.
