No encroachment of lake near Mysore

Mysore, Apr 20 (UNI) Mysore Deputy Commissioner and Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman S Selvakumar today clarified that the lake near Hinkal village on the outskirts of the city had not been encroached upon, as feared by the city Corporation and Forest department officials.

Talking to newspersons here, he said that under his instructions, the Assistant Commissioner and Tahsildar had conducted a survey in the area and reported that there was no encroachment and land grabbing by anyone. The surveyors were marking the area today to revive the lake under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.

It may be recalled here that city Corporation Commissioner Dr Chandrasekhar, along with forest officials, had yesterday inspected seven lakes in and around the city to take up revival works under the JNNURM project and suspected that a lake had been encroached upon by a private developer.
