Need for concerted efforts in tackling major social issues: LG
New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) Delhi Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna today said there is a need for concerted efforts by government departments and voluntary organisations like scouts and guides in tackling major social issues involving environment conservation, security of women and the elderly.
Mr Khanna expressed these views on the occasion of the Annual State Award Rally of the Delhi State Bharat Scouts and Guides at Raj Niwas here.
Delhi State Bharat Scouts and Guides had worked for the overall development, character-building and self-reliance of the children of the national capital, the LG said.
Mr Khanna exhorted the education department to extend support to the activities of the organisation so that students could contribute confidently in social service.
The annual state award rally of the Delhi Bharat Scouts and Guides was organised to award Rajya Puruskar Certificates to the successful scouts and guides, 'Long Service Decorations' to the veterans and 'Thanks badges' to the supporters of the movement.
The scouts and guides also presented a cultural programme.
The Delhi State would be organising National Jamboree as part of its centenary celebrations.
State Chief Commissioner Manik Bersaley was also present on the occasion.
