NCP expects to win 5 seats in UP assembly polls
Lucknow, Apr 20 (UNI) The Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) today said the party, which was contesting 45 seats in the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, was expecting to win at least five.
Addressing a press conference here, party's national secretary Majid Memon and UP state president Ramesh Dikshit said as per the predictions, no party would get an absolute majority in the poll ''hence there is a possibility of a socialist-secular coalition government representing the smaller parties like the Jan Morcha and Indian Justice Party,'' Blaming all the four major political parties-- BJP, SP, BSP and Congress-- for ''ruining'' the state, the NCP leaders maintained that they would prefer to go with the BSP rather than any other party for a government with a minimum common programme.
They also blamed the Congress for refusing to go for a pre-poll alliance with the party, leading to division of votes of the secular forces.
