Model's mother says Abhishek ditched daughter

Srinagar, Apr 20 (UNI) As the celebrity wedding of the year takes place in Mumbai a few hours from now, a drama unfolded hundreds of kilometres away in Kashmir after the mother of model-turned-actor Naina alias Jahnvi Kapoor surfaced here, claiming that Abhishek Bachchan had an ''affair'' with her daughter.

Dr Shaheena Aga alleged that Abhishek had ''ditched'' her daughter, and also disputed claims that the starlet had a ten-year-old son from her first marriage.

Talking to journalists at her residence here, Dr Aga said Naina had told her about the ''affair'' more than three months ago.

''I did not approve of the relationship. I tried to convince my daughter that she should not marry a non-Muslim. But, she (Naina) refused to listen and went ahead with the relationship. Abhishek has ditched her. He has refused to marry her,'' Dr Aga said.

Asked why her daughter chose to commit suicide on the day when Abhishek was getting married to Aishwarya Rai, she said the situation had gone out of control and her daughter was feeling ''dejected and depressed''.

''Jahan aag lag jaati hai wahan duan uthta hai (There is no smoke without the fire),'' said Dr Aga who is married to Aga Nasir Ali, a retired government official who held key posts during his service.

She also denied that it was a publicity stunt by her daughter.

''Why didin't she claim to have relationships with other top actors... She knows Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan and others very well. Why Abhishek and not others,'' Dr Aga asked.

She also denied reports suggesting that her daughter was a divorcee and had been married to one of the sons of Maulana Kalbe Sadiq, a top Shia cleric of the country and member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board.

Maulana Kalbe Sadiq, who was out of the country, has reportedly confirmed that Jahnvi's real name was Naina Rizvi and she was his former daughter-in-law who had a ten-year-old son.

''I don't like to talk about the dirty people. Who is he? The entire country knows about his character. How can anybody equate his family to that of Agas?'' an infuriated Dr Aga said.

She also alleged that Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh had threatened her daughter. ''On one occasion, the goons hired by Amar Singh damaged the car owned by my daughter. The incident happened some two months ago,'' Dr Aga claimed.

As the news spread that the mother of the actor stays in Srinagar, scores of journalists, mostly from the electronic media, rushed to her residence at posh Raj Bagh area here to seek her reaction on the entire episode.
