Kochi, Apr 20 (UNI) The Kerala High Court Advocates Association today adopted a resolution urging the Chief Justice to hold an impartial inquiry into the conduct of Chittoor judicial first class magistrate N V Raju and place him under suspension.

The association, which met here, also demanded that contempt of court proceedings be initiated against Mr Raju for ordering the arrest of advocate Haridas P Nair.

The magistrate ordered the advocate's arrest on April 13 after a client represented by the latter escaped from custody.

The high court had yesterday granted bail to Mr Nair, and ordered his immediate release.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, the president of the association M P Krishnan Nair said there should be a revamping of the selection and training process of judicial officers to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
