Guv okays Mandal's appointment as SEC

Ranchi, Apr 20 (UNI) Former Chief Secretary M K Mandal today got the gubernatorial consent on the Jharkhand government's proposal to appoint him as the state Election Commissioner.

Raj Bhawan sources said Governor Syed Sibtey Razi gave approval to the government's proposal to appoint Mr Mandal in the new post.

The post had been lying vacant after Mr G Krishnan relinquished the office on December 12 last year.

Mr Mandal's appointment assumed significance as the government was yet to hold local bodies' election though no formal announcement was made so far in this regard.
