Govt declares uranium industry as public utility service

New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) Government today declared uranium industry as a public utility service under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.

''This has been done by the Central Government in public interest for six months with immediate effect,'' the Labour Ministry in a statement issued here said.

As a result the employees in this establishment would be required to give notice to their employer six weeks in advance before proceeding for a strike so that conciliatory proceedings could be started.

''During the conciliatory proceedings and seven days after their completion, the employees cannot go on strike,'' the statement added.
