Goa BJYM to launch campaign against unemployment

Panaji, Apr 20( UNI) Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Goa unit plans to take out a 12-day ''Ratha Yatra Unemployed Awarness Campaign'', covering 31 constituencies, from April 22 to highlight ''growing unemployment in the state''.

Goa BJYM president Ashish Shirodkar, while speaking to reporters here today, said the rally will commence from Poinguinium constituency on April 22 and conclude on May 3.

He said the BJYM will put forth the following demands -- Unemployment allowance for the youth, retirement age in all government and semi-government jobs should be 58 years, all jobs arising in government, semi-government and private establishments should be provided to the local youth, a review of the SEZ/IT parks policy as these parks are likely to cause an influx of migrant work force leading to a proliferation of slums, an inquiry into the ''illegal recruitment in government jobs by the Pratapsinh Rane Government during past two years'', and a demand for scrapping the contract labour system in all industries and government establishments.

Incidentally, in Goa, the population of youth between the ages of 18 and 35, is 345,000.

Meanwhile, a businessman and social worker from Canacona constituency Vijay Komarpant today joined the BJP in the presence of State BJP president Shripad Naik and former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
