Education City to come up in Haryana
New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) An Education City is being set up in Haryana to provide students with world class education in various emerging fields, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said today.
Addressing a seminar on 'Education in the Global and Globalising Perspective: Role of University of London' at the Indian School of Business and Finance (ISBF), Mr Hooda said, ''The Rajiv Gandhi Education City is being set up at Kundali bordering the National Capital of Delhi and it would be developed as a Centre of Excellence for education in the emerging fields of Bio-technology, Nano-technology and Information Technology.'' Mr Hooda said, the State government has enacted Haryana Private Universities Act to open doors for private universities to set up their units in the state so as to give impetus to the efforts being made in improving the quality of education, he said.
He urged the Vice-Chancellor of the University of London Sir Graeme Davies to set up a unit of the University at Rajiv Gandhi Education City so as to help the state in developing the City as a centre of excellence. He assured Sir Graeme that every possible assistance would be given by the Haryana Government in this venture.
''The views of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of London would help us in giving impetus to the massive drive which we have launched in Haryana to reform the education system in the globally changing scenario,'' Mr Hooda said.
