BJP leader's kin abducted

Jagdalpur, Apr 20 (UNI) A BJP leader's relative was among four tribals abducted allegedly by naxalites in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh last night, police said.

After arriving at Solangi village under Koyalibeda police station area, the naxalites allegedly indulged in loot and abducted four people.

Bastar Development Authority Vice Chairman Vikram Usendi's relative Sumit Usendi, Koyalibeda Janpad Panchayat member Madhav Singh and two drivers were abducted, Bastar Range Inspector General of Police R K Vij said.

Kanker's Superintendent of Police V K Choube had reached the spot, but heavy rains was hampering the search for naxalites, Mr Vij said.

Meanwhile, a high-level meeting chaired by Home department Principal Secretary S V Prabhat was held here yesterday to devise strategy to check the naxalite menace.
