Atwal condemns Katara episode, bemoans rising criminalisation

Hoshiarpur, Apr 20 (UNI) Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Charanjit Singh Atwal today described the involvement of suspended BJP MP Babubhai Katara in human trafficking as ''a most unfortunate incident'' which he said should be strongly condemned by all in manner that no other MP dare repeat it.

While talking to newsmen in PWD Rest House here, Mr Atwal said that black sheep could be found anywhere and for the episode of Babubhai Katara, all the members of Parliament and Rajya Sabha could not be blamed.

Mr Atwal also expressed grief over the increasing presence of criminals in politics and appealed to all the political parties not to allot party tickets to criminal elements.

He also said that the electorate should also excercise its franchise judiciously and stoutly, reject any candidate of criminal background irrespective of the party affiliation.
