Asian body asks government to probe killings

Imphal, Apr 20 (UNI) The Hong Kong-based Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has asked the Central Government to probe the case of abduction and killing of two youths from Heirok, Thoubal district by unknown persons.

The Human Rights Alert(HRA) said the AHRC has also expressed apprehension that troops may be involved in the killings. The bodies of Thouba and Arunkumar were recovered on April 12 from Senapati district after they were taken away by Hindi speaking personnel suspected to be troops on March 30 last.

The HRA has also expressed concern over the operations of the army and the Assam Rifles by moving around in civil dresses and numberless vehicles.
