Airtel inks pact with HCL to provide broadband connections

Jaipur, Apr 20 (UNI) Leading broadband and telecom service provider Airtel today tiedup with software firm HCL to provide broadband connections to its customers here.

Completing the first phase of rollout of its network in the pink city, the company's services extends in 94 cities across the country with over 1.88 million customers.

''To further promote broadband penetration in the city, broadband connection will be offered with every HCL PC,'' Bharti Airtel President and Chief Executive Officer Manoj Kohli said.

The Government of India has declared 2007 as the year of broadband and it will be our endeavour to increase broadband penetration in the country, Mr Kohi added.

''We believe that Jaipur is one of the main cities with huge potential for socio-economic development. The company would offer fixed line and broadband services to customers in the pink city with a variety of plans,'' he said.

''We are very happy to introduce these initiatives in Jaipur, which are aimed at driving the PC and broadband penetration further.'' Airtel Broadband and Telephone Services President Atul Bindal said the company will offer broadband speeds of upto 2 Mbps to its customers.
