7 ft crocodile caught by villagers

Tiruchirapalli, Apr 20 (UNI) The residents of Vengur village on the banks of river Cauvery in the district were amazed to see a rare visitor, seven-feet long crocodile today.

The crocodile was seen emerging out from the river and crossing the road towards an agricultural field, by the villagers. After several hours of "battle", some brave youths of the village caught the reptile with thick ropes.

A large number of people assembled in the village to have a glimpse of the rare visitor. Later, the crocodile was handed over to the forest authorities who in turn let it into the crocodile farm at Kilikkoodu near Grand anaicut in Thanjavur District.
