27,000 litres of spirit seized, three arrested

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 20 (UNI) In a joint operation Excise and Police officials seized about 27,000 litres of rectified spirit worth about Rs 55 lakh from Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts today.

Acting on a tip-off, Excise officials seized 12,180 litre of spirit from a container lorry at Karunagapally, while police seized 7,315 litre of spirit at Chinnakkada from a fish-laden lorry, both in Kollam district.

At Thiruvalla in Pathanathamthitta district, police seized 7,500 litre of spirit kept in a house.

Three people were arrested in this connection, official sources said.
