Manipur: Womens commission tours villages

Imphal, Apr 19: Members of Manipur State Women's Commission, toured Jiribam sub-division of the Manipur border area, to understand the problems of the people, especially the women.

The Commission officials, led by its Chairperson Dr Jamini Devi today said the tour of Jiribam sub-division, in Imphal East, lasted about three days.

The team had left Imphal on April 15 and the journey lasted for about a day on National Highway - 53.

The team has now returned here. The members interacted with the women representing Meitei, Bengali, Assamese, Muslim and other communities.

The Commission would be preparing a report based on the findings of the visit.
