US Consultate office function at Paigah palace

Hyderabad, Apr 19 (UNI) The Consultate of United States of America will start functioning at Paigah Palace, the temporary accommodation provided by the State Government from 2008.

The Consulate will take possession of the Paigah Palace in August and a lease agreement in this regard would be signed soon.

The US Consulate would have its permanent accommodation near the Hitech City soon.

A top-level US delegation, consisting of Mr Alexander J.Kurien, Director, Strategic Planning Divion, US deparatment of State Overseas Buildings operations, Mr. William A. Gibson, International Realty, Deparatment of State, Washington and Mr Mark Fry Consular section Chief, Consulate General of the USA , Chennai, today called on the Chief Minister.

Mr Reddy said 40 per cent of those applying for visas in the US Consulate in Chennai were from Andhra Pradesh and opening of the US consulate in the city would benefit both Andhra Pradesh and the USA.

He assured all help and assistance from the state Government in opening the US Consulate as early as possible in Hyderabad.
