ULFA denies issuing threat to NGO official
Guwahati, Apr 18 (UNI) The banned ULFA today denied issuing any threat to Assam Public Works (APW) secretary general Abhijit Sharma as reported in local media here.
ULFA's military spokesman Raju Baruah in a statement, e-mailed to the media here, claimed that he did not call up Abhijit Sharma to threaten him and termed it as a part of "misinformation campaign", launched by the APW official against the militant group.
The ULFA spokesman also denied Mr Sharma's reported allegation of ULFA having close links with Pakistani ISI and Director General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) in Bangladesh.
The APW was the NGO, which conducted an opinion poll in six districts of Asom during later part of last year over the ULFA's core demand of restoration of sovereignty of the state.
The APW later said a large chunk of people, covered under the survey, said sovereignty was not necessary for Asomm. The ULFA later reacted very sharply to the opinion poll, conducted by the APW, and termed it as a design of Indian intelligence and Asom police against the ULFA.
