Two officers fined under RTI in Bihar

Patna, Apr 19 (UNI) The Bihar State Information Commission slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 each on two officers of agriculture department for their failure to provide required information.

Those penalised under the Right To Information (RTI) act were Deputy Secretary Shankar Jha and Under Secretary Uma Shankar Sharma of the agriculture department.

Secretary of the Commission S K Mishra said here today, the commission has directed the agriculture department commissioner to deduct the amount from their salary and make arrangements for providing information sought by Mr Lalan Prasad and Mr Awadah Bihari Singh by April 27. The commission also directed deducting the amount at the rate of Rs 250 per day from the salary of Under Secretary Uma Shankar Sharma till the informations were given to the persons concerned, he added.

He said, the action was taken by the commission on the basis of the complaints made by retired officers, Lalan Prasad and Awadh Bihari Singh, who had sought some information from both the officers.The complains were heard by the Chief Information Commissioner Justice Mr Shashank Kumar Singh and Information Commissioners Dr Shakeel Ahmad and Mr P N Narayan.
