Kohima, Apr 19 (UNI) Tension continued at Molvom village in Medziphema sub-division in Nagaland's Dimapur district as NSCN-IM cadres have refused to vacate the village.

Official sources said here today that the personnel of Assam Rifles had cordoned off the Molvom village on Tuesday after the NSCN-IM members took shelter. The securitymen have appealed to the ultras to vacate the populated area for safety of life and property of the villagers.

The district administration has also deployed Indian Reserve Battalion jawans in the area to thwart any untoward incident like inter-factional clash between the warring factions of NSCN.

Earlier, in two clashes at Molvom and Bungsang villages, one cadre each of both the NSCN factions, was killed and three others including two civilians were injured. Some houses in the villages were also burnt.

Following the factional clashes, a large number villagers fled to the nearby areas leaving their homes for safety.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), Major General K S Sethi, visited the area and interacted with the villagers, who were affected by the latest violence.

The General claimed that despite the circumstantial constraints of the jawans, as they were required to operate under cease fire, the Assam Rifles had been able to curtail the movement of armed underground functionaries in the state.

He also advised the villagers to maintain peace.
