Six Congressmen apply for Hamirpur Lok Sabha bypolls

Shimla, Apr 19 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) President Viplove Thakur today said the party has received applications from six people to contest the Hamirpur Lok Sabha bypolls.

O P Rattan, Ram Nath Sharma, Ram Chander Pathania, KK Kaushal, Kanwar Surinder Rana and Manjit Singh Dogra have filed in their applications to contest the bypolls, she said in a release here yesterday.

The bypolls to the Hamirpur constituency are being held after the Supreme Court upheld the Lok Sabha Speaker Somanth Chatterjee's decision to expel 11 MPs following their involvement in the ''cash for query scam'' in a sting operation by a private TV channel a few months ago.
