PIL on urban local body polls dismissed

Bangalore, Apr 19 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today dismissed as infructuous, a public interest litigation, seeking for a direction to the State Government to conduct elections to 207 Urban Local Bodies in accordance with the Constitutional provisions and fix reservations as per the rotation system.

Mr Justice Chidananda Ullal and Mr Justice Ashok Hinchigeri passed the order on the PIL, filed by Mr Amaresha of Raichur and others, in view of a single judge's order granting the State Government nine weeks for redoing the reservation on the basis of rotation system.

The single judge's order came on a batch of writ petitions, challenging the notifications issued by the Government fixing the reservations to several local bodies in different wards.
