MP Minister urges Santosh Mohan to expedite power projects

New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI)Madhya Pradesh Minister for Power Kailash Vijayavargiya today urged Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Santosh Mohan Dev to expedite commissioning of the 500 MW Sanjay Gandhi Ext Project Birsinghpur and the 210 MW Amarkantak Extn Project at Chachai in the state.

In a letter addressed to Mr Dev, Mr Vijayavargiya said the contracts for the execution of the above projects were awarded to MIS BHEL, New Delhi, on turn key basis with the commissioning schedule of September 2006 for the Sanjay Gandhi unit and February 2007 for the Amarkantak unit.

After there was delay in supply and erection of these plants, he said, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had taken up the matter with Mr Dev wherein it was assured that the Sanjay Gandhi Extn unit would be commissioned in December 2006 and the Amarkantak unit by June 2007.

When the work was not taken up even after assurance, the Chief Minister took up the matter again with the Union Ministry. But there has been no acknowledgement by the Ministry till today.

Mr Vijayvargiya urged the Union Minister to look into the matter and direct BHEL to complete the projecs without wasting time.
