MCD school principal arrested for molesting 10-yr-old student

New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI) The Principal of an MCD school in East Delhi Push Vihar was today arrested for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old Class V girl.

Satpal Yadav (54), was arrested this afternoon after the victim's father went to the school to lodge a protest over the alleged 'misbehaviour' of the Principal with his daughter, according to sources.

A commotion and exchange of fisticuffs took place between the victim's family members and the Principal and his supporters before police was called and an FIR registered.

The matter came to light after the girl, who was allegedly being exploited for the past one-and-a-half months, refused to go to school this morning saying she was being physically abused.

Earlier, when she would tell about the Principal's 'objectionable behaviour', her father Kalyan Singh, a priest, said he would simply brush it aside because of his age.

The accused has been charged with wrongful confinement (342), assault for outraging modesty (354) and criminal intimidation (506), said the police.

Yadav has been remanded to 14-day judicial custody.
